Junior High School

Welcome to The Westminster Junior High School. We are grades six, seven, and eight with 550 girls and boys. The average class size is about 14 students to one teacher. We are nestled in the middle of our beautiful campus in the new Junior High School building.

Years of planning and design informed the raising of this child-centered, education-inspiring structure. Click here for a pictorial tour of the new building.

While a great deal of attention is being paid this year to the new Junior High School building, Westminster is much more than mere bricks and mortar - the teachers are what make Westminster's Junior High the truly amazing place that it is. There are over 70 adults, most with advanced degrees, who are committed to this age group and fabulously talented in teaching their disciplines. Many work with students outside the classroom in our numerous co-curricular and extra-curricular clubs, sports, and activities.

The Westminster Junior High School program is rich, challenging and fast-paced, and focuses on the development of the emerging young adolescent. In a comprehensive program that maintains a deliberate and careful balance of traditional and innovative teaching methods, the faculty celebrate students' creativity, concentrate on their skill development, and support the students in their personal growth. Throughout the disciplines teachers emphasize critical thinking skills.

Each day begins with a homeroom time that has a devotional which helps to get our day off to a good start. Character education is integrated throughout the curriculum, and school-wide gatherings and assemblies enrich the experience each week.

As you enjoy our web page, be sure to imagine the sounds of laughter and joy that permeate this very special place in the middle of The Westminster Schools.
